Re: Nimslo Prints vs Slides

Should you take slides or prints in a Nimslo.
Can you still get the lenticular prints made? I have seen various messages
implying the (only) factory had shut down.
I have never taken Nimslo prints, so I am not an expert. The reason: the _demo_
print I was sent by Nimslo was so awful. It was a child feeding a deer in the
woods. The child and nearby trees looked liked 2-D cutouts in several different
planes. The distant (i.e. 20', I guess) branches were visible twice!
On the other hand, David Burder has made some _superb_ lenticular prints for
advertising stands. I stood and looked at his back-lit 8" by 12" portrait of
an Indian woman and of pile of Coke cans for several minutes. Note the subject's
depth of field was limited, so avoiding the double image. I do not know whether
he used a Nimslo to take the picture.
If you take prints, you could presumably get a tame processing shop to make
prints the right size to mount for use in a Holmes stereo viewer (i.e. like the
turn-of-the-century card sets). Personally I use slide film and mount either the
outer two chips in RBT plastic mounts (normal subjects) or the inner two chips
(closeups).
Do dummy runs with your camers. Some suffered from poor contacts on the switch
mechanism, which I cured by simply cleaning the contacts.
Overall, it's a good camera, and you can get very worthwhile results.
