Labeling of glass mounted slides

I just got some EMDE aluminum binder frames and glass and am starting to mount
my best slides in glass for projection/protection.

I know where the thumb tab goes, but is there a standard location/orientation
for information labels? I assume that those who submit their slides in
competiton have got this all figured out, and I want to get this right before I
get them all assembled.

I have one book that mentions the standard placement and orientation of slide
labels (World of 3d-Ferwerda) and it is as clear as mud. :-)

i.e.) Where does the projectionist expect to find the label, and in what
orientation. Does the label go inside the glass, or outside? I did a lookup in
the archives on labels, and now I'm beginning to think that placing a label
inside the glass on the aluminum mount might be a great idea for about 5 years
and then.....I have a fine point Sharpie Permananent marker, and it does a good
job of writing on aluminum.

Any thoughts either on or off list greatly appreciated.
