I bought a can of super-ultra-black spray paint at one of the local
photo stores (at "Pro Photo" for those locally who want to know) that's
very very black, and non-glossy.  Obviously it's sold there for
photographic reasons, and indeed it seems to work quite well.  A good
bit spendier than Krylon black at Home Depot though.  :-)

So you may want to try a photo store where your local professionals go.
