Michael Dabrosca of Petaluma asked about mounting and duping
Michael....there is no mystery to haveing 3-D slides duped.
Many labs that do regular slide duping can make the copies of the images for
you. Of course....the quality of their second generation image is what you
have to examine first before the next step. Then you have to make them aware
that you are giving them STEREO IMAGES....NOT TWO OF THE SAME IMAGES IN A
DUAL MOUNT!!! Make sure to ask them to slightly enlarge the images, by no
less than 3% (so you don't get edge problems, and you have a little play when
you remount the dupes). Make sure to tell them you want one copy of each
left and right image in the pair. Sounds simplistic to tell them that, but
many times a lab might think that it is the same image on both sides and will
just dupe one side twice, it has happened to me.
I offer a service of precision mounting ( for projection tolerance) images
for several people right now. But I will only use RBT mounts, and I
reluctantly do small quantities of glass and aluminum if required.
Also....if you live in Petaluma CA.....contact my 3-D pal Philip Frankl at:
pjfrankl@xxxxxxxx ( he is moving there in a matter of days from S.F.) and
ask him if he can scoot you a few RBT samples to try....he is a big user.
Also, try Frank Flocks at fjf@xxxxxxxxxx He is another RBT user who does a
lot of duping...maybe he can give you some places that do quality slide
copying. If anyone is interested, email me and I will send a price list on
mounting to RBTS
