I think there are more of us view collectors than you think. There
just isn't all that much to talk about, I suppose. I have only a couple hundred
cards, and buy ones that strike me as being interesting pictures or good 3D effect.
I'm not really a rabid collector, but I do think of myself as collecting them.
The problem may be that there were so many different views made, collectors
probably don't have much in common to talk about; almost everybody in photo-3D either
has a stereo camera or knows what one is about, but almost nobody has
a stereoscope card of "Men in front of St. Mary's Church in Podunk, 1888".
I'm sure you all don't want to hear that at a mall antique show this week, I
found a[nother] great Niagra Falls view for $3; I'm just not sure WHAT to say
on the stereocard subject. I suppose it's just the nature of the collection.
I suppose I *could* try, though... here goes:
I recently picked up my first tissue views a few months ago. Much to my surprise,
they (4 views) turned out to be pin pricked and wonderfully tinted.
I had never seen a tissue view before; I found it wonderous to look at them
and change from front-lit to back-lit; the color just magically appears.
Now if I could only find more like these that I could *afford*... :-)
