Light source for 2 1/4 viewer

I am currently making a 2 1/4 stereo viewer using the lensboard from an old
Verascope viewer. I need a bulb (or bulbs) that can be used with a dimmer,
between 5V and 15V, and are reasonally balanced to daylight. My
experimentation with most incandescent bulbs produced an orange light,
especially at low voltage. I would also consider flourescents without a dimmer.
Any suggestions?
Sam Smith
