NSA Convention

The 3-D Extravaganza is coming! Plans are moving along well for this
year's NSA National Convention in Rochester. Originally I volunteered
to run the Registration part of the Convention, keeping track of all
registered attendees, making sure the badges were printed, etc.
Volunteerism has a tendency to accumulate a workload, so as of now I am
also acting as the event coordinator as well, with my name and number
appearing in the Stereo World Convention Ad: "For more information
about any aspect of the convention, please contact William
Davis...716-671-7707." (Actually, Bill is the preferred moniker) In
this new role, I will be arranging another meeting of local volunteers,
to update, assimilate and coordinate our activities as well as get a
status report on the various activities. I will be sure to post info
as we go, to keep you all informed, too. (I expect all 800+ members of
this list to attend, of course)

In case you've been under a log somewhere and missed the previous
postings, the Convention will be held at the Genesee Plaza Holiday Inn
and Riverside Convention Center in downtown Rochester August 1 through
5, 1996. Most of the activities are scheduled for Friday, Saturday and
Sunday August 2,3 and 4, with Thursday August 1 for early arrivals,
room-hopping and so forth, and a photo-op/nature tour is scheduled for
Monday August 5 to Letchworth State Park. Friday through Sunday will
be filled with Stereo Theater programs, with slide shows encompassing
the entire 150 year history of stereo photogeaphy, from classic antique
stereoviews to the breathtaking work of contemporary masters to
state-of-the-art computer graphics, all presented in full, true,
reach-out-and-touch-it 3-D in the air-conditioned comfort of the
cavernous Riverside Convention Center.

Friday night brings the Spotlight Auction, with "over 200 choice lots
of stereographic collectibles selected specifically for their potential
to enhance any collection."

Saturday and Sunday are the dates for the Trade Fair. Nearly every
major dealer in vintage stereo images and equipment will be represented
at this 100+ table trade show, as well as merchandisers of current
stereo cameras, accessories, projectors, mounts, viewers, images and
books. Odds are, if it isn't in that room that weekend, the
stereo-related item you're looking for isn't available anywhere.

Saturday night has the Awards Banquet at 7:00 PM and Sunday morning has
the President's Breakfast scheduled for 8:00 AM.

When more details and specifics are known, I will post them here.

Best Regards,
Bill Davis
