Re: 3-D Movies on Video

Personally I found Roland Lataille's original post quite funny. I think
that was mainly the intention of his post. It linked in quite well with
the "collectors increasing prices" topic.

Regarding the comparison of Anaglyph 3D video to field-sequential 3D video
made by Derek Gee. In my experience Anaglyph 3D video quite often
doesn't work because of colour generation loss and you never get very
good separation between the left and right images - broadcast video
(NTSC or PAL especially from VHS tape) just wasn't designed to be used
like this. Whereas field-sequential 3D video maintains very good
separation between the left and right images to produce very good 3D
and the images are in full colour. Yes is does have flicker, but
if you reduce the brightness of the TV and drop the room lighting,
the flicker can be reduced to acceptable levels.

I too share Roland's enthusiasm with 3D video/movies. It was only
just 3 months ago that I got my first 3D film camera (A 3D Magic
reloadable clone - can't remember the name) whereas I've been
working with 3D video (field sequential mostly) since 1988.
I would have bitten Roland's fishing hooks earlier but I already spend
too much time interneting... :-(
