I've been following the posts on solvents for cleaning shutters.  I believe
the German "Wundbenzin" is NOT benzene, but what we in the US call "white
gas" or Coleman fuel, basically unleaded gasoline. I think any low-boiling
hydrocarbon solvent would work, for example pentane or "petroleum ether" ( a
mixture of low-boiling alkanes).
