Actually, there is no flicker in the Virtual iO rig because the two eyes are
watching separate viewscreens, whereas most other systems feature LCD lenses
trying to keep two images on the same screen separated. Unfortunately I
understand that Virtual iO has recently DEcreased their resolution slightly,
among other economy measures, in order to lower the cost of their glasses by a
couple of hundred dollars. I haven't seen the new glasses, so I have no idea how
much of an effect this has. In the area of computers, the 3D Max system is
entirely flicker-free, but I don't think its technology is compatible with NTSC
video.
