3D Video

Not a topic I am familar with, but was browsing through America On Line's
Multi Media Section and ran across info on the continuing emergence of 3D in
Digital Video; lots of expensive software. There is an entire magazine
dedicated to this stuff.

I was unable to get into their home page: HTTP://WWW.DV.COM/ but it is
suppose to have lots of info on digital video 3D.

The software learning curve, and cost, seems far greater to me than learning
and doing 3D photography.( you think original 3D equipment is expensive -
yeow - some of this 3D Computer Graphics Software is $3K and UP)

Yet with the enthusiasm that people seem to have for computer screen "looks
like 3D" , the 3D medium is expanding anew'. People like 3D. The
complexities, costs, and almost "toy-like" viewing of photographic 3D images
may be what's impeeded it's propagation.

Simulated 3D (without goggles or glasses) on a flat computer screen gives the
"look" of real depth, and through it's simplicity makes "almost 3D" available
to greater numbers of people in a workable format for the end user.

Indeed the new computer 3D rage may develop a bigger following than all of
3D film based technologies..

Now if you could place overlayed Nimslo images on the computer screen, and
place a lenticular overlay on top of your computer screen to yield a real 3D
image, that might be nice; such a concept would help the necessity of having
an actual photographic source (instead of computer graphic source) for such
images too !

 What do you think?
