Expo2 arrives in Saskatoon

Hi to all,
My brother Pat drove up to the city last night, bringing
expo2 along, and saving about 3 mailing days in the process.
I am amazed, impressed, and other good emotions by the size,
variety and quality of the 3d things I have seen.
Ray's video is very good (though I didn't get a chance to
view it under low lights to reduce the flicker). Pat made a
video of himself unpacking the box so he could repack it. If it
is okay with Ray, and there is room on the tape, I will dub
it onto the end to help in future repacking.
First impressions:
I love the medium format slides. They are so rich looking
and grain free.
The 8x10 lenticular (berries) is very good.
View Magic prints are very good. Anaglyph: not my cup of
tea.
For general purpose, the Realist/European format is still
easy and convenient and capable of making excellent 3d photos.
>From the white binder of Realist slides (from memory, so I
don't remember most of the names):
The Macro Realist shots are WOW! I loved the toad and
the Eye to Eye shot. I would love to know what a Macro Realist
looks like. Does anyone have a photo that could be put
on a web page?
Summer Cat (a hypo of a cat) is amazing also and shows what
you can do for a lot less money than a Macro Realist would
cost. Any chance of you selling dupes of this one? My wife
would love it. I'd pay about $3 (like I did for George's
stereopsis slide) for a good dupe that was Albion mounted
with a blue foldover (or equivalent quality). Same goes for
some of the Macro Realist shots I don't have a hope of
reproducing. Any takers for duping the best of expo2?
For humor: Chris Helms' beach shot and "Tim, with too much
time on his hands" (from a different binder).
I am making a checklist of ones I want to go back and look
at again. Out of the white binder (the only one I have looked
thru), I have about 50 checked off. The page with George's
slides has the most checks. Way to go Dr. T!
On the down side: a few overexposed slides (at least in my
halogen Red Button) and some blurry/ not sharp ones. A surprising
number of slides with the window set wrong and a few with
vertical misalignment as well.
Hardware:
The View Magic print viewer works very well. Since it has no
lense,s you don't get colour fringing like you would with
a different inexpensive viewer. Definitely would buy one if I
got into prints.
Joel's MF viewer is a sight to see. Especially when you know
he put it together at the last minute. Your interocular adjustment
method gives me some ideas for my next viewer.
Haven't looked at the Holmes or 2x2x2 viewers yet.
So much to see... so little time.
