The only "position" that is really relevant here is the position of the head--if
you tilt your head to the left or right the polarization of the glasses will no
longer match the polarization of the light and the effect will be lost. The
holes in the screen have nothing to do with 3D. You'll find them in virtually
any motion picture theater screen. They are to let the sound through. (The
speakers are located behind the screen.)
