Where Erie Canal Crosses Mohawk River

"Where Erie Canal Crosses Mohawk River, Rome, N.Y." is the title
shown on Keystone View Company 3 1/4 x 4 inch Lantern Slide
identified as H111 (V26122). This excellent view includes two
canal boats on the canal just at the point where it crosses over
the river, a dam just upstream of this point, and three locks to
take the canal up to the water level equal to that at the top of
the dam. This Lantern Slide was made from one side of the
negative for a stereo viewcard which Keystone purchased from
Underwood and Underwood. Waldsmith's STEREO VIEWS indicates that
Keystone purchased U&U's negatives prior to 1922.
Several questions:
(1) Does anyone on the list know if that section of the Erie
Canal still exists and, if so, does it have any commercial use or
is it used as a tourist attraction?
(2) Does anyone on the list have either the Keystone or the U&U
stereo view of this scene? The Keystone card would have the same
identification number (V26122) as the Lantern Slide and might
also have the same "H111" number showing its place in a set. I do
not know what U&U number would have been used.
Will appreciate any info on this site and sets which contained
the stereo view of this scene.
Thanks.....Jim Motley....ex836@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
