I agree.  The Realist 3.5 and/or the Kodak Stereo are the best deal
for entering stereo photography.  Sometimes other Realist format
cameras can be found for a really good price, but those two are
most easily be found, and one obviously "named" the format.

Frame/Beam-splitter technology's only technical (vs Realist) 
advantage is for high-shutter speed usage in bright light with
higher speed film when attached to a 35mm camera that has a 
vertically-flying shutter. Sometimes useful, but not generally so.

P.S. - Which model of Realist did President E. use?  ("Stereo 
       camera used by presidents..." :-).  Can't really see which
       in the Life photographs.
