A very sad VM story

While making my daily Net-search for 'viewmaster' I came across a list
of VM reels that a fellow is auctioning off in one lot. I read through the
list and found that it was your basic mix of singles and a few
sets...nothing to jump with joy over. When I got to the bottom I read that
the minimum bid is $300US. I immediately laughed, thinking he was yet
another antique dealer thinking he had a gold-mine in reels, but then I
read the following:
>Please, no flames on this, I am trying to raise money for my cat's
>surgery (his leg has to be amputated) and I've got enough stress with
>that.
>
>Bidding ends Monday May 13th at 8 P.M. CST
>(And all good thoughts for him will be appreciated as his surgery is
>scheduled for the next morning.)
>Thanks.

Now it's possible that this is a ruse, but it is also possible that
it isn't. Either way I'm fairly sure he won't get $300 for what he's
offering (I can send the list to anyone interested). If the money IS for
his cat's operation, and for some strange reason I believe the story, then
I'd like to propose something:
First, I would contact Robin and check out the situation first-hand.
Then, maybe there's 60 cat-loving people on this list that would be
interested in sending $5 each to Robin for his cat's operation. This would
definitely ensure the $300, and save the possible disgrace of a failed
auction.
I know this is terribly strange and that I'm probably insane for
pursuing the matter, but I like cats and feel the $5 is well worth the
chance if it's going to help.
Sincerely...:-)jamie (#17 on the list of big-mouths!)
