Phil Palmers writes about the + and - of working with 2x2 and "Realist"
format systems.

All these are valid points... As you know, I use and like the "Realist"
("Realist ++"?) format (slides mounted in "double aperture mounts") which I
find very convenient to use, a universal language spoken by most people into
3-d (most stereo clubs, PSA competitions, postal folios, etc.) Having a
good quality viewer to view slides (not only for me, but for people that
view my slides) is a big plus...

For me, mounting stereo slides in the standard double-aperture mounts is
not a problem. As matter of fact, it is fun! Yes, FUN, FUN, FUN!
When I get back a roll of film (delivered at work) I cannot wait to go
home and mount the slides. I love mounting stereo slides! It is more
fun than taking the pictures in the first place. (PS. I only love to
mount MY VERY OWN SLIDES! Would not care to mount anyone else's slides
no matter how well they paid me. The best part, of course, is that I
am mounting my own pictures and will soon see how they look.) It takes
me about one hour to mount a 36 exp, realist-format roll (30 pairs).

Phil, I recommend that...

>After linking up with the Stereoscopic Society and the 3D Society...

...you ask some of the more experienced members of the Stereoscopic
Society to show you how they mount their slides and which system of
the two they prefer. Once you decide to go with one system, you will
mount your slides that way and select your viewing/projecting
hardware so it will not be easy to switch systems at a later time.
