Kodachrome processing and mounting problems

I just did two mounting jobs, one for people who wanted to project. For hand
viewing, the mounting was OK....but not much better than that.......and as
far as I am concerned, for projection, this type of mounting does a great
disservice to the projectionist and the eyes of the viewing public....if you
want to project, do not expect commercial mounting to meet projection quality
standards
Of more concern to me however....and I wonder if anyone else out there has
this problem, I stopped using Kodachrome processing ( I do my own mounting)
for these reasons.
1) Although not the biggest of issues, I dont like having to wait several
days when I can have my E-6 in three hours....or less if really needed.
2) I have had several experiences with Kodachrome coming back with dust not
on the film....but "IN" the emulsion.....or these funny brownlike crusty
specs "IN" the emulsion.
I have not shot Kodachrome but for a few times in the past couple of
years.....I married Ms. Velvia several years ago and the Fuji family has been
impeccably good to me.....I probably shoot a couple of hundred rolls a year
and I have not had one, yes I'll repeat, one problem with the E-6 processing
at my local lab....nor have any other people I know who use it.
3) I just did a Kodachrome mount job for Ed Shaw....who took some fantastic
shots of the pyramids in Egypt.....there were several images in the bunch of
25 that had large "threads of dust" not on, but imbedded "in" the film.
4) Has anyone else had this problem? There is nothing you can do about this
(unless you want to invest some serious thousands of hours and time in to
Photoshop and associated computer hardware/software.
5) If I have to do Kodachrome.....are there particular places to get it
processed where the quality control is better?
Thanks... Jon Golden RBT USA
