The Sacramento Valley Photographic Art Center is currently presenting
"Contemproary Photography: A Three Dimensional Viewpoint" continuing until June 12, 1996. This exhibition is an overview of the best work that is currently being done in stereography. These works curated by David Lee, encompass a wide variety of techniques, equipment and vision. The curator presents a new method for viewing large (8x10) prints.
In conjunction with the exhibit, there will be a lecture conducted by Pauline Sweezey, current President of the Photographic Society of America, and David Lee on May 29 at 7:30 PM. They will briefly cover the history of 3D photography and the modern usage, including slides and atereo cards. A slide presentation will illustrate the effect of 3D photography and contrast that style with planar photography.
The exhibit and the lecture are being held at the VIEWPOINT GALLERY at 551 Sequoia Pacific Blvd in Sacramento, off Richards Blvd at Interstate 5. The gallery is open on Tues and Fri from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM and Weds from 1:00 - 8:00 PM. There will be a reception for the artists at the Gallery on June 8, from 5:30 to 9:00 PM. Further information may be obtained by calling (916) 441-2341.
[All who have seen the exhibit so far have given it rave reviews especially the large prints. It's an opportunity not to be missed. Bill Orr]
