Story about plastics

Just as a side note to the archival quality of plastics, I heard recently that 
someone who collects toys had an old Fisher-Price pull toy from the 50's mint in
box that was ruined due to the plastic.  I guess while she had it safe in 
storage etc. the plastics had given off so much gas over time that part of the 
piece had actually "melted" so it was ruined.  

I know it's not related to photo but since most people who collect don't collect
just one thing, thought I should pass it along.
