|I've been going about this the long way: Measured and studied a stereopticon
|in the hope of creating one of my own design. Now I need some lenses. I

One way (although probably not what you are looking for) is to have an
eyeglass manufacturer make them. I had this done a number of years ago.
When I went in for a new perscription for eyeglasses, I took a stereo
view with me. I told him I needed glasses to be able to view it at
about a distance of 18" (to get a reasonable image size with some
magnification) and some prism correction so it would be easier to
view for extended periods. The resulting perscripton was very strange
(Eyemasters called the Dr. to confirm that's really what he intended to
write - but they were able to make them up in an hour). The only real
problem with wearing them is that that they are no good for picking
thru boxes of views - you can't focus far enough away to see what's
on the table!

As an examle - here is what I got for the stereo viewer glasses:

stereo
O.D. Sph +1.75 Cyl +0.25 Axis 17 Prism 2^1 Base BO
O.S. Sph +0.50 Cyl +0.50 Axis 110 " " " "

(This is kind of neat because not only does function as a viewer, but
it also has my particular correction built in as well - If you wanted
a "general" viewer though, I presume you wouldn't include the astig
corrction and so forth - maybe Jim C. could comment on this).

Incidentlly I presume you are not really talking about a "stereoptican"
(a projector) but rather a stereo view card device. If I'm wrong on this
please correct me!

THANKS
