Re Who Invented the Movies

Chuck Field refered to a post some time  back which was not much on topic
which concerned a British imigrant to America to made a film of the
vicinity if a particular lighthouse which was the original subject of
interest and was a request from another group . I then replied that I
thought this would either be Friese Green or Le Prince both of whon it
seemed were actualy trying to produce stereoscopic movies . Some one else
also suggested Friese Green but I have checked since and found nothing to
suggest that he emigrated to America which Le prince did . A TV documentary
that has been shown twice at least in the UK seems to take the same line as
"The Missing Reel" by Christopher Rawlence except it was aboard the ferry
to France or a ship returning to or from America that he disapeared. Did he
Jump or was he pushed . Here in the UK the magic lantern society celebrated
the centenary of the cinema last year but the TV is doing it this year ,it
depends on where you start from . Actualy in  Europe and the UK the
brothers Lumiere of France seem to be taken as the beginig now rather than
Edison , Le Prince, or Friese Green .   P.J.Homer
