Yes that's right. We learned in school it was the Lumiere brothers that
organised the first public performance. If I remember well their first films
were :
- La sortie des usines Lumiere.
- L'arriv=E9 du train en gare.
The first one showed the workers of the Lumiere factory leaving the plant to
go home.
It was said that during the projection of the second film the public jumped=
away
fearing they were going to be hit by the train on the screen. The camera was
positioned in the track and the train was heading for the audience.
And the rest is history ! :-)
