I hadn't heard about this break-in nor any others at Rochester, and I hope
police are successful in apprehending the culprits.  But this can happen
anywhere, even in broad daylight - someone's van was broken into at
the Atlanta show last year during the daytime, right out in the parking lot.

I always wonder which strategy is best for minimizing risk.  I'm always
uncomfortable until I get home with my purchases.  Are my goodies safer
in the hotel/motel room?  In a car trunk?  And if the latter, should
the car be parked in the hotel's garage?  Out on the street (which was
proven unsafe in this instance)?  Any experts in crime prevention on
this mailing list?
