TDC Slide Carriers

This should help. From the "Operating & Maintenance Instructions" for 
the TDC Stereo Vivid Projector (Krause and McIntyre):

"2-inch slide projection
One of the valuable features of your TDC Stereo Vivid projector is that 
it also can be used to show 35mm and Bantam slides without any special 
accessories.  Any slides 2 inches high (preferably glass-mounted) can 
be inserted in the rear channel of the slide carrier, including 
regular2 x 2 mounts and 2 x 4 1/2 inch stereo slides." 

 It goes on to say that these 2 x 4 1/2 inch mounts were for slide bar 
shots with a standard 35 mm camera.  They also recommend removing a 
polarizer for more brightness when showing flat slides (one lamp only, 
of course).  

Hope this clears rather than muddies the waters.
