I bought my "Soligar -something- II" spotmeter for $50, and have seen them
for a bit less, although in unknown condition ("gee.... I don't have
any batteries with me to show you, I forgot them at the shop"). Definitely
a cheapie, but does measure a one-degree spot, and if I compare with other
measuring meters on a 18-percent grey card, they all agree, so it seems
accurate as it could be (it had someone's zone system markings taped
on it, so that was a good sign, I think). I'm not sure of it's spectral
accuracy, which could be a weakness.
There are others I've certainly lusted after, but this one probably is a great
deal more accurate than my camera shutters (varies with camera). :-)

I use it a great deal, and is my default meter. I like to check out both
the bright and dark spots before deciding where to set the exposure (or
where I think I'm setting it).
I've semi-recently measured the shutters on my cameras, and need to make a
chart (easy) and neatly attach somehow to the backs (hard).... :-)
...except for my Kodak which needs to be taken apart and shutter cleaned.
Sticks solid if left unused for as little as a few weeks. Still
haven't had the time .... sigh.
