I failed to note that a 1 deg meter can't average the scene, so you have
to..a single reading is meaningless unless it happens to fall on a lucky
18% part of the scene. So spot meters are not for novices as you have
to  think and consider the meaning of the readings you made since you
can only set ONE in the camera. Sort of like the ZONE SYSTEM, you can
measure 'til you're blue in the face, but in the end can only set one
f/stop and shutter speed when you take the picture. (and can mark the
film for special development + or - normal.) BobH

Alse re incident meters..the flat diffuser associated with foot candle
meters, that came first. The dome type with the Norwood Director and
later photographic meters. The Weston Invercone is sort of a dented domb
and serves the same purpose..to include off axis light. You point these
at the CAMERA lens from subject position NOT AT THE LIGHT SOURCE! BobH
