The Slide Competitions

I, too entered the PSA 3-D slide salons for many years, but the experience
was too frustrating.  You make up this neat little box of four glassed 3-D
slides send them in and eventually you get back a post card with a number
score on it.  And that's it!  Yeah, they tally the results and publish it and
you can earn "stars" based on your tally but so what? I found the whole
experience to be pointless.  
     Much more rewarding is the Stereoscopic Society folios. As Dr. T knows,
every six weeks or so, you get a box of slides in the mail which includes one
slide from every member of your circuit.  You get to look at and comment on
all the slides; then, you take out your old slide, put in another and send it
on its way again. Eventually it gets back to you and you find that everyone
has seen and commented on your slide, too.  A *much* more satisfactory
experience.
      The PSA does administrate a few 3-D slide circuits  that operate in a
similar fashion to the Stereoscopic Society's folios except they are much
more infrequent, and you are forced to come up with FOUR slides everytime the
box comes around. I think the Stereoscopic Society has the neater solution,
besides they also have folios for 2x2 users, stereocard prints, and I think
there is even a V-M one.
