This is proven to us 2-1/4 Rolleiflex shooters who also use the 35 mm
"rolleikin" attachment, which utilizes only a portion of the medium
format lens coverage for the smaller film format.
When shooting 120, the 75 or 80 millimetre lens yields a "normal"
magnification and perspective. Yet, when "cropping in" by fitting the 35
mm attachment, we achieve "portrait length" DOF and perspective from the
same lens.
So when the subject to camera distance and lens focal length remain
constant, the effect of the "longer" lens (magnification, DOF,
perspective) on the smaller film format is achieved by "cropped in" on
the image area.
