VM MARK II DOUBLE FLASH

Hi all,
I need some technical advise from VM-wizards on the list. 
My MARK II works perfectly BUT produces TWO flashes each time I make a picture.
Once when I push the shutter and once when I release the shutter button again.
The sync seems to be OK but I was told this could considerably shorten my
strobe's lifespan.
Can anyone give me step by step instructions how to open the MARK II and to
solve the problem (bending the contact a bit or something like that) ?
