I think excerpts from the patent text are forthcoming. Q-DOS
waited until Jimmie Songer's patent rights expired before
they manufactured and marketed his idea. Free enterprise (!)

I don't think the analogy applies because we have only one piece
of film.
Your analogy of "reconstructed light paths" works perfectly if
we were viewing a hologram. (In fact holograms of magnifying
glasses do exist and are quite intriguing!)
But, once the image is recorded on a single sheet of ordinary
photographic film, we cannot reconstruct the original light
paths just by looking through rose coloured glasses.

Actually, my reading on this is that a larger f-stop is recommended
to reduce the "depth-of-field" so that there is (here it comes)...
"Enhanced 'Fringing'"
