Just to add more fuel to this discussion on single-lens 3D, here's are
items 2 and 3 from Vivitar's "Suggestions for 3D operations" in the
Q-dos manusl. (By the way, Q-dos stands for "Quantum Duplex Optical
System."
2) Selection of a focal length between 135mm and 210mm so as to
reduce the effective depth of field, i.e., reducingthe area of
apparent sharpness much closer to the actual camera and core
subject distance.
3) Use a wide lens aperture, e.g., f5.6 or below. Again, this is
to reduce the focus zone and at the same time ensure a higher
working shutter speed which will also combat camera shake when
working with the longer focal lengths.
I don't know if Vivitar understood the principles behind this lens or
not, and I certainly don't. I offer this merely as additional
information for those interested.
