RE: Granted the in focus stereo pair in a good viewer gives the brain
via the eyes a fair substitute..and saves focusing. BUT I would NOT call
it unnatural since "natural" covers a lot of ground beyond the simple
geometry of the stereo pair we are fond of discussing. Vision in the
brain is pretty weird with pattern cognition based on experience (the
source of many optical illusions). Some of the PBS shows on the effect
of brain damage on vision are very revealing..fellow who had perfect
eyesight, and saw well enough but could not read signs because they
weren't processed. In a railway station he could only tell an exit by
people going out it. Lots of similar reconstructions of the sensory
signals. And of course Land proved we don't see by the three color
printing model that does work for us, but isn't how the eye does it. So
watch out for NATURAL. BobH
