Twins, again ...
I know the subject of twin 35mm cameras is old hat (like everything
else on this list), but new point-and-shoot cameras are coming out all
the time, so the options keep changing.
I love my Realist, but I still find it somewhat awkward for quick,
spontaneous shots where there's little time for setting exposure,
focussing, etc. (BTW, here's where I disagree w/ Dr. T's criterion
for a "snapshot." Many find journalistic and sports photographers
take pictures with little thinking, because they know how to do it,
and because the subject demands quick action.) Anyway, I'm really
interested in augmenting my Realist set-up with a twin 35mm rig.
So my questions are:
1) Will side-by-side point-and-shoot cameras be too hyper for
indoor, portrait use?
2) What are good, fully automatic (exposure, focus, DX sensing,
etc.) point-and-shoot cameras for twinning? Do any accept
cable-release shutters? I'd like to keep cost down to about
$100 per camera, but I haven't seen anything in that range
which accepts a cable.
I would not trust myself to take apart a camera and try to wire the
shutters together, so I'd like to find some mechanical way to
synchronize them. This doesn't have to be exact. I'm not taking high
speed subjects.
Thanks very much.
