Hi Hayden,
Besides all the considerations that everyone else has brought up, you also
have the problem of getting viewing glasses that maintain good color
separation. This is particularly a problem with slides that were output by
a computer, because the green phosphor in particular tends to be very
broad-band & tends to spill over into the band of wavelengths passed by the
red filter, particularly if the filter has any orangey tint to it (as the
red filters on the cheap cardboard anaglyph glasses tend to).
The best way to guarantee good results inexpensively is to go to a
theatrical supply store & buy some of the gel filter material that they use
on colored spotlights. If you take a slide along & leaf through the filter
samples you can usually find a pretty good pair of colors. The catch is
that you've either got to make the glasses yourself or pass the filters
around separately...
