Not to put too fine a point on it, but the lens cover does nothing to stop battery
drain on a FED, as it doesn't cover the light sensor, which is the small (1/4")
round circle just above the left lens. It's best to keep the camera in it's case,
which keeps the sensor dark and not drawing current.

The FED metering circuit is quite simple - a battery, a resistor network, and a
meter movement. As long as light hits the sensor, at least some current will 
flow through the circuit.
