  The latent (undeveloped) image on film is way less stable
than the film itself. That's why they always tell you to
develop promptly.

  My brother once got about 20 rolls of film developed at
once. The oldest were 4ish years old. The results were decent
(didn't look at them critically), but he had stored the film
is the refridgerator which probably helps keep the latent image
from degrading (slows it more likely).
