Look at it this way.

Some people are happy listening to music on a cheap portable mono radio
with a 2" speaker. Others are not happy unless they are listening to
a high-end stereo system with a pair of $3,000, 5-way speakers. They
may both listen to the same music, but the one who's listening on the
high-end stereo is going to hear a LOT more of what's there: more bass,
more detail, more volume with much less distortion and a better overall
reproduction of the original material.

That's exactly the case with a cheapo plastic- vs. a well-made glass
achromat-lensed viewer. You can certainly view the same slide in
either one, but the better viewer is going to show you more of what's
there than the distorted, plastic-lensed viewer.

Believe me, there is nothing more satisfying than viewing your best
work in a bright, clear high-quality achromatic viewer! But beware,
it will show you all of the flaws in your work, too. This will help
you to become an even better stereographer.
