I'll second that - at the Denver camera swap this summer, I ran across
a semi-pro level video camera (only - not a recorder) in the "AG"
series (Panasonic) for $35. Probably about 8 years old and had features
such as TWO built in titler screens. 

The problem for stereo of course is to find two that are similar 
enough to use without having to do cartwheels with focal lengths, etc.
