Bracketing ad infinitum...

I forgot to mention that experiments, supported also by theoretical
calculations, have shown that if you bracket an entire roll with 1/3 steps
symmetrically around the intial guessing point, you have 95.2% chances to
hit the "perfect" exposure.

Certain authorities on the subject claim that by increasing the braketing
range and frequency to 2 rolls at 1/4 steps will increase the chances to
over 99%, but, in practice, this is viewed by many as an "exaggeration" and
"waste of film".

Some extra advantages of heavy bracketing include having multiple copies of
almost identical slides to give to friends and relatives, having different
slides of the same subject for viewer and projection, having different
slides of the same subject for a viewer with a halogen vs. a non-halogen
bulb, etc.

As one great philosopher (no, it's definitely not Dr. T) once said:

"Bracket relentlessly... film is cheap"
