Being one of them thar "liberals" that Mr. Dole finds so disgusting and
dangerous, I'm of the "less is better" view of moderation. I haven't found
life's little naughty words (from George Carlin's list ... Lenny Bruce wasn't so
concerned about them) all that common or bothersome on this group. Even Cliff
kept his most scabrous language for one-on-one communication (Lincoln shared one
of Cliff's particularly juicy commentaries on Lincoln's personal hygiene,
heritage, and sexual proclivities with me). Unfortunately on the Internet we
have to be aware of the possibility of unsavory personal agendas on the part of
some of the people we deal with. It's nice to think we can just filter out the
chaff, but in the past the problems of such attempts have always seemed to
outweigh the benefits. I'd frankly rather try to personally "filter" the
troublemakers at the level of my mind than have Big Brother (as benevolent a big
brother as John may be) do it for me.
