Re: Basic Question - What do I look for?

Most probably I have this wrong, but if you want your 9 year old son to
use it TODAY! then an RBT S1 sounds like a good option but a bit
espen$ive... just tell him not to drop it... ;) ;) ;) This camera
also fits your landscape preference since it is full-frame.

I usually recommend that people start with stereo cameras from the 50s.
In your case, you don't need to worry about exposure! Most 50s stereo
cameras are manually operated and give 5p images (roughly square).
The rare and expensive Belplasca and Busch Verascope are 7-p.

Hmmm... perhaps the FED might be the camera you are looking for...

You know, there are not many options left.... You put too many
expectations (reasonably priced, not obsolete, your son using it,
landscapes, etc.) Maybe you should just try a $100 Realist and then
decide if you are really interested in 3d... If not, you can
always sell it and get your $100 back. If you are, you can always
upgrade to something more fancy later... Or, just stay with it as Dr.
T has done (even though he has been tempted by a Belplasca lately...)
