That's the way I sees it. 
In fact, there are reasons to have more than two images. Head motion 
parallax and computer vision volume rendering for example. 

One WAY COOL application of this principle is that you don't need to use 
the objective's aperture. You can put a lensed aperture in the optical path, 
i.e. you can make a device that will fit between a camera and ANY optical 
device to give you 3-D! 

Could that be thought of as an argument for "focus" vs. "base-line"?

Peter Abrahams. Wouldn't it help you to have a 3-D telescope to reduce 
that atmospheric noise you look through?
