A few things to add:
If you really think you've got some good shots, and you are considering the cross-processing route, shoot a single roll of the same film under similar circumstances, and have it run that way- You'll get at least an approximation of what the good stuff will come out like- some like the effect, some don't.
If you want to try to salvage regular slides, don't get the negs printed and the slides shot from those prints. The extra generation, sometimes not even a high quality one from minilabs, will hurt the images too much. Negs direct to slides will not be as good as original, but if you want to go that route, try to find a lab that contact prints their 35mm slides from negs- projecting them degrades the sharpness more than contacting. You will gain some contrast, and they will cost you more. Bummer. I hate it when I do stuff like that.
