3D prints

Wolfie,
Concerning your questions about 3D prints:
>I would like to scan the photos and they should make rather nice stereo
>pairs for use on the internet ...
This is exactly what I did for the first time, a couple of weeks ago. I
took stereo photos (5-perf) on a roll of print film. Then I took it into
a local photo shop that does their own "1 hour" printing. I explained
the "5-perf" situation to a knowledgeable technician, who said she would
do my roll personally. First, she developed the roll without cutting it.
Then she centered each negative in her machine and made a print of it
with parts of the adjoining prints on either side. She returned to me a
set of prints and a roll of the uncut negatives. I don't think there are
very many places who can do this, and I know I was lucky to find this
technician (and that the shop wasn't busy). Of course, they prefer to do
everything automatically by machine. I think the key thing was to say I'd
pay whatever was necessary for this special order. The tech I happened to
get was curious about 3D and eager to help me achieve success. And.. I
think they charged their regular price.
Once I got the prints, I digitized them using an EzPhoto scanner, placed
them side by side on a colored background using Softkey's PhotoFinish
program, and saved them as a JPG. They are not perfect, and I am still
trying to find out why Larry Berlin picked up the same thing I did, that
there are wavy lines in the final images. (Larry: I think it is in the
scanner, but I haven't had time to try them sideways yet.)

P.S. Most people didn't report noticing the waviness.
P.S.S. Dr-T did notice the light leak on the photo called Sanderling,
which may have triggered the latest discussion on Realist light leaks.
