What is the purpose of 3D slide and image competitions? Is it to obtain
better views of the 3D realm? Or is it just for images of a certain format?
Ultimately it may be necessary to create a special category for the enhanced
images, if the differences interfere with the adequate judging of entries.
Right now it's a comparison of lesser known computer images to the more
understood and used photo images. As the computer images become more
sophisticated, it may require a separate category.

I would hope to foster cooperation between those who only use cameras and
others who use their computers. Only by exploring both modes can we truly
appreciate what 3D images offer our perceptive capacity. If both types of
images remain in head-to-head competition, it could encourage photographers
to be more aware of things within their scenes and provide a challenge to be
able to match computer enhancement with special camera techniques. Until
there was something different to compare to, the motivation to explore was
somewhat less or directed in other avenues. For me the bottom line (for a
competition) is what do the images offer to my senses of perception, not how
were they prepared. (though I have an abiding interest in the preparation too!)
