PAL Video

PAL was not invented by the British. It was invented by the German -  Prof.
Walter Bruch. As an advantage to the NTSC system PAL has a built in error
correction for the transmission of the color information.
Since the East German government didn't want their people watch the West
German television they chose the SECAM system (but slidely different than
SECAM used in France). Both PAL and SECAM were introduced many years later
than NTSC.
