Michael....good idea...and I have contemplated this. I arranged for the use
of an X2 to be used for a 3-D IMAX production in Montreal....and another
situation in Los Angeles for a film company.
The problem here is the cost of renting. I have not set any standard fee,
but a professional entity, who can deduct the rental costs as a business
expense...is a far cry from a hobbyist who want to just try one out for week.
I have considerd the idea of renting with an option to buy, such that if the
S1 or X2 is rented for say...two weeks....the cost would be deducted from the
purchase price.
Comon non-stereo cameras can be rented, easy to get especially in big
cities....but RBT's are made each to order, and its hard to even keep my own
around due to demand. Perhaps you have a good idea here...and you should
consider renting these cameras as well, ones that are typically in the
highest price range of the potential stereo camera purchaser.
BELPLASCA, REALIST CUSTOM 2.8 w/STEINHEILS, RBT S1 or X2 or 109, HECTRON,
STEREO MIRANDA, WOLLENSAK, VERISCOPE, TWIN CAMERA RIGS OF VARIOUS CUSOM
DESIGNS.
I would be happy to talk to you about it.
