My real friend Dr. T replied:

"Didn't Tyco know that?  Why should Mattel be any different?  What do you
mean "work for equipment"?  The huge talent pool will also have to get
paid, somehow, to do the work and I doubt that paying the photographer is 
the problem here... As we've discussed in the past, the market is simply
not present and it is a little late to change the public's image that
VM reels sold at Toys R Us are not just for kids... 1,000 runs of reels 
with "serious" subjects still remain unsold by NSA... and the absent
buyers here are serious stereo photography enthusiasts.  3Discover is 
being marketed as an adult toy with modern features and as such has
better chances to succeed.  Instead of wishing for competition, lets let
it run its course..."

Later photography was done with twin SLR rigs (Nikons I hear...)
