There is some hope. Checkout Hiroshi Sugimoto - there are sites all over the 
web with his photos.  Unfortunately he doesn't shoot in stereo, however he 
recently released two of his seascapes in prints about 2" by 3" mounted and 
boxed in finely crafted wood boxes.  I believe the originals were shot with a 
large plate camera and then this edition was reduction prints.  He is better 
known for his theatre series and a series of photos shot in Natural History 
museums.
